Join us this Saturday, December 7th, 2024, from 12-3 pm for the opening of the newest sculpture in the Alumni Sculpture Garden (next to the Kenan Music Building). "A fig tree grows in Palestine, A fig tree grows here," created by Hong-An Truong's fall class and many collaborators, will be celebrated with music, workshops, and a teach-in.

rafa esparza (b. 1981, Los Angeles; lives and works in Los Angeles) received a BA from University of California, Los Angeles (2011). Solo exhibitions have been held at Artists Space, New York (2023); Commonwealth and Council, Los Angeles (2021); MASS MoCA, North Adams (2019); ArtPace, San Antonio (2018); and Ballroom Marfa (2017).

Talk and opening reception for student mural and photography exhibition exploring a historical archive project that documents Palestine in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before the Nakba. The exhibition will include student murals from Lien Truong's Narrative Painting Class and photos curated by Dr. Nadia Yaqub's classes in Arab World Photography and FYS: Imagining Palestine.
