Visiting Lecturers in Studio Art
Here is some more information about our 2023-2024 visiting lecturers:
Stella Rosalie Rosen is an experimental animator based in Durham, North Carolina. Her work explores both the inevitabilities of ecological and sociopolitical tragedy and possible escapes from these futures. Rosen draws on science fiction and fantasy to create loosely narrative animated loops and short films. Rosen is most at home using pencil on paper to create frame-by-frame animation, but her work often takes a multimedia approach and incorporates stop-motion puppetry, video, and replacement animation.
Taro Takizawa is an artist who focuses on printmaking, wall vinyl installations, drawings, and 2D designs. He received his BFA with a printmaking emphasis from Central Michigan University in 2011, and an MFA in printmaking from Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2017. Born in Japan, he makes images connecting his experiences in Japan and the U.S. His works contain both Western and Eastern aesthetics with an appreciation of traditional printmaking processes and mark-making. He is fascinated with blending: the boundaries of contemporary studio practice and traditional processes, printmaking and installations, architecture and crafts, all influenced by traditional Japanese patterns from textile designs.
