The spacious, modern painting and drawing facilities at UNC- CH include two large drawing studios and two large painting studios located on the second floor of the Hanes Art Center. All four studios are illuminated by floor-to-ceiling north light, plus three artificial lighting systems: spotlights, fluorescent banks, and recessed cone lighting. The facility also includes a model changing room, a spray room, an extensive still life collection, and ample storage for student work. The studios are equipped with central heating and air conditioning, making them comfortable to work in day and night, throughout the year. Students can access the facility 24 hours/day, 7 days/week using their UNC ID card and additional security measures ensure students’ safety if they choose to work in the evenings or on weekends.
