In Land/Min(e)dscapes, Abraham O. Oghobase presents work from an ongoing engagement with land, history, and representation.

Abraham Onoriode Oghobase (b. 1979 in Lagos, Nigeria) is an artist based in Toronto, Canada. In his photography-based practice, he interrogates human existence and uncovers interior worlds through experimentation with the narrative and multisensory potential of images and objects, including archival materials.

Betsy Kenyon can make paper scream with photons. She can put a fusion reaction onto a millimeter plane. She does this by using light itself as a medium.

An interdisciplinary artist, Migiwa Orimo primarily works in installation consisting of text, drawing, objects, video and sound that explores the notions of gap, slippage, and “a realm of disjunction.” Using the concept of storage/archive as her framework, Orimo explores the relationship between public memory and private space by examining: how memories are shared and internalized; how they are stored and become stories; and, how memories and history collide.

Donald Lipski is a sculptor known for his poetic combining and altering of existing things and for his enigmatic installation works. 

For two years, Jason Lord has been wandering and gathering: images, sounds, thoughts, and discarded objects. Gathering is the culmination of 731 consecutive days of walking for at least five miles every day, regardless of weather or inclination.

Stephanie Syjuco works in photography, sculpture, and installation, moving from handmade and craft-inspired mediums to digital editing and archive excavations. Using critical wit and collaborative co-creation, her projects leverage open-source systems, shareware logic, and flows of capital, in order to investigate issues of economies and empire.

As an interdisciplinary artist, I pull inspiration from international politics and social movements with the goal of offering alternative perspectives based on research and engagement with the community. My artwork examines the political influences of borders, human rights, and refugee resettlement efforts.

Paul Mpagi Sepuya is a Los Angeles-based artist working in photography and an Associate Professor in Media Arts at UC San Diego.
