Emily Hobgood Thomas
A String of Consecutive Thoughts
Opening Reception: July 1, 5 pm

A String of Consecutive Thoughts is a visual response to the questions that Place Attachment Theory pose. The psychological facets of what one considers home to be are tied to the universal need for belonging. These components of belonging are what give people strong attachments to the places they have lived. Attachments that are formed from the concept of what home is transcends interpersonal attachments, which results in an affection for the places that we consider sacred. Through the questioning of Place Attachment Theory, and the understanding of what a home can be, A String of Consecutive Thoughts uses abstract and poetic actions as a foundation for the larger understanding of the psychological self.
