Opening Reception: November 7, 5:30-7:00 pm

Present is the culmination of the ARTS 499 class, led by instructor Gesche Würfel. Using a large variety of mediums–namely sculpture, painting, collage, photography, screen printing and digital media–we are addressing a variety of modern issues; some broad, and some very personal to the artist. Such subjects of discussion include immigration, the adverse effects of deportation, financial destitution, lesser-known truths of American history, modern reclamations of mythos, celebrations of the natural world, environmentalism, and the complex relationship between American society and cycles of violence.

Featuring the works of:
Jane “Pax” Rudenko
Cynthia Carcamo
Livian Kennedy
Marissa Butler
Sydney Farris
Ruth Moffat
Emil Eure
Peri Law
Faith Tucker
Barron Northrup

Every subject has been carefully considered, and we are passionate that our pieces, which make up a full semester’s worth of work, bring with them fresh perspectives on the topics that are not only representative of our lives, but our future.

This project was supported by the Beatrice B. Pearman Undergraduate Research Fun in Art, Department of Art and Art History
