FROM THE DESK OF GEORGE JENNE:
Welcome to, “What’s He Building In There?”
It’s an occasional, friendly dispatch from my studio and an update on upcoming exhibitions, publications and juicy rumors.
UP ALL NIGHT
Sept 1-30 at LUMP – 505 S Blount Street, Raleigh, NC – http://lumpprojects.org
This show describes the intersection between video art and music video. It’s my first crack as a curator, and I’m excited to say that we’ve secured works from some of my absolute favorites like Gary Hill and Vito Acconci, who, along with works by a handful of brilliant emerging artists, will be paired with a selection of seminal music videos by the likes of Gerald Casale, Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze.
You’ve Reached the Office of Stuart Ullman
Oct 6 – Nov 4 at LUMP – 505 S Blount Street, Raleigh, NC – http://lumpprojects.org
The show will open with a recreation of the office set from Stanley Kubrik’s film version of The Shining. It will close with a video, shot in the set, and projected in the space, but expressed in a cinematic language that mangles Kubrik’s mesmerizingly uptight style. It’s all about fandom, myth, and obsessive verisimilitude.
You’ll soon get info on solo shows at Privateview, Turin, Italy in November, Art + Leisure, New York in January, and Civilian Art Projects, Washington, DC in May.
