PoPuP 3

Community art show to Benefit The Carrack Modern Art Gallery

Opening Reception:

OCTOBER 21, 2011

PoPuP is a community arts project, organized by Adrian Schlesinger, which holds nonjuried community art shows in conventional and unconventional spaces, such as barbershops and non-profit galleries. PoPuP‘s mission is to celebrate the arts community by raising awareness and funding for artists and local organizations or businesses in need of support. By acting as a liaison between artists, venues, donors, and the public, PoPuP encourages communication and fosters a creative dialogue that explores the relationship between the arts and commerce, and life and representation.Participating artists accept only a portion of the proceeds of their art sales and donate the remainder to a selected cause, in the case of PoPuP 3, proceeds will be donated to The Carrack Modern Art Gallery so that they can continue keep their doors open.

The Carrack Modern Art Gallery, a new space in the heart of downtown Durham, is a commission-free art exhibition venue that offers a place for the arts community to gather, have discussions, sit, think, plan and move forward with cultural events that transcend the expected realm of the visual arts. Director Laura Ritchie enthusiastically offered the space for PoPuP 3 and it is our hope that it proves to be a fun, mutually beneficial and successful event. The show is one-night only and the opening reception is free and open to the public.Donations and art sales are encouraged. Please join us.

Please see attached poster for the event and some images of work that will be included in the exhibition. Please distribute widely, post, review, announce, list and attend. For more information, visit or contact Adrian Schlesinger at
