Come enjoy Izel Vargas’s artist lecture and mixed-media works featured at the Carolina Latina/o Collaborative this fall. William A. Nericcio describes Vargas’s work as xicanosmosis, “a word that fuses the ideas of ‘chicano’ with ‘osmosis’ — a shorthand way of talking about what happens when the cultures and histories of the U.S. and Latin America combine, clash, fuse, and frolic.” Originally from the Rio Grande valley, Izel Vargas completed his MFA at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007.
Sponsored by the Carolina Latina/o Collaborative, the UNC Program in Latina/o Studies, and the UNC Art Department.
