Congratulations to Sloane Art Librarian Heather Gendron and her colleagues Neal Ambrose-Smith (independent artist and consultant), Dr. Joan E. Beaudoin (Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science, Wayne State University), and  Eumie Imm-Stroukoff (Librarian and Assistant Director of the Research Center at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum), who were awarded a $12,500 grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation for their project Artists’ Studio Archives:  Research and Publication.  This funding will support the development of a workbook detailing best-practices for managing collections of artwork, records, and archives in visual artist’s studios.

Heather has already spent two years conducting interviews at the studios of Vito Acconci, Dara Birnbaum, Phyllis Baldino, Mel Chin, Susan Harbage Page, Juan Logan, Shana Moulton, Stacy Lynn Waddell, Cai Guo Qiang and William Wegman. The group’s goal is to have the publication completed by early 2014.
